Liverpool began their pre-season friendlies schedule today. The Reds faced off against Wacker Innsbruck and Stuttgart in two mini-games behind closed doors. In the first game we saw an exciting youngster take to the field. Some Liverpool fans were blown away by Kaide Gordon v Wacker Innsbruck.

Liverpool 1-1 Wacker Innsbruck
The Reds went ahead early on in their first pre-season game.
Divock Origi cooly converted a penalty which shouldn’t have been given.
The Austrian side were harshly penalised when a whipped cross hit a defender’s arm at close range.
The Reds’ lead was cancelled out not long afterwards with a header at the back post finding its way past Loris Karius.
In truth the keeper should’ve done better and Owen Beck learned a lesson about defensive awareness with the young left back not clearing the cross or at least putting the attacker off.
Kaide Gordon v Wacker Innsbruck
We saw a standout performance from Kaide Gordon v Wacker Innsbruck.
The 16-year-old midfielder was deployed on the right wing to devastating effect.
Signed from Derby County in January the precocious wonderkid has been lighting up the academy and even scored on his U23s debut last season.
This afternoon we saw him demonstrate excellent ball control, his ability to ghost past defenders and a remarkable knack for turning sharply.
He looked clever and confident on the ball, an encouraging sign.
