Liverpool are always looking to strengthen their academy ranks. The Reds have hoovered up some of the world’s best young talents in recent seasons. This summer could see another wonderkid added. According to The Mail, Liverpool could swoop for Lewis Bate at Chelsea.
Liverpool have been working hard in recent years to stack the academy with talent.
Last summer Mateusz Musialowski arrived from SMS Lodz and he went on to win the club’s goal of the month competition last season.
Kaide Gordon was snapped up from Derby County in January having made his senior debut at just 16-years-old.
Whilst Harvey Elliott joined the Reds in the wake of the 2019 Champions League win.
Liverpool want Lewis Bate
According to The Mail there is trouble in the Chelsea academy.
One of the West London side’s brightest prospects is holding off on signing a new deal.
This has apparently prompted Liverpool interest in Lewis Bate.
The English u-19 centre midfielder could depart Stamford Bridge as he is allegedly one of a number of youngsters who doesn’t see a path into the first team.
Liverpool could take advantage of the situation by swooping for the 18-year-old in a bargain deal.
What RTK has to say
Back in the day the Reds took Dominic Solanke from the Chelsea academy.
After a period of little success at Anfield Liverpool sold him for £19m.
If we manage to snap up Lewis Bate then we could see a repeat of this Michael Edwards masterclass.
There will always be gullible buyers looking to line our pockets.
Otherwise, he could turn out to be a gem and we will have landed a future star at a great price. Either way it is a win-win.
