Vinicius Jr is available for transfer, according to reports. He’s a player Liverpool could work wonders with.
The Mirror reports that Vinicius Jr is available in the transfer window. Real Madrid do want a hefty fee, however – £68m. Manchester United apparently have interest, though can’t pay that fee.
Thus Real may accept a loan with obligation to buy. And that, for us, is a deal Liverpool should get in on.
Vinicius Jr transfer
Real supposedly want to free up money in order to do further deals. They lack funds as it is but have eyes on big-name talents.
Vinicius is one who could move on but we don’t see why United would pay that fee for the Brazilian. They already have Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood as young options in the forward roles.
And they’re reportedly adding Jadon Sancho. Is a 21-year-old Vinicius Jr really needed?
Liverpool, though, have an attack built around Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. All three of them turn 30 by the end of 2022.
The Reds need to focus on their next generation, backing players like Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. As well, of course, as Diogo Jota.
We think Vinicius could fit in nicely. His style certainly suits Liverpool, wanting to run in behind with pace and move past players with the ball.
The success under Jurgen Klopp is built on that from the wingers and Vinicius could carry that on. And given his undoubted potential, we’d back him to become a superstar at Anfield.
We’ve seen what Vinicius can do up close, too. His two goals against Liverpool in the Champions League showed those direct attacking qualities the Reds love.
And if he’s doing that already, just imagine what Klopp and co. could mould him into. We think Vinicius could become very special at Anfield.
The long-term focus allows him the necessary patience, too. Patience he may not get anywhere else.
£68m is certainly a massive fee – and potentially beyond Liverpool – but if the Reds can manage it, we think Vinicius would be an outstanding signing.
