Liverpool are expected to move for a midfielder this summer. The Reds are in dire need of reinforcements and apparently have their eyes on Serie A. According to reports in Italy, Liverpool could bid £60m for Nicolo Barella, putting Inter Milan in ‘crisis’.
Who is Nicolo Barella?
24-year-old midfielder Nicolo Barella stars for Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A.
The Italian playmaker was a standout performer for his club as they stormed to the scudetto last season, he netted three and layed on seven goals from midfield.
A player with a keen eye for a pass and a touch of flair to his game, agent Furio Valcareggi referred to him as the ‘best midfielder in the world’.
The playmaker was a star of Euro 2020, pulling the strings for his side as the Azzurri won the tournament, scoring one and assisting two.
Liverpool could bid for Nicolo Barella
According to reports in Italy interest in the player is hotting up.
La Republica, as relayed by FC Inter News, has claimed that Liverpool are prepared to launch a bid for Nicolo Barella.
The Reds are allegedly willing to offer £60m for the rising star’s services.
This amount would apparently put Inter Milan into a ‘crisis’ as they have apparently promised Simone Inzaghi no further major sales after Achraf Hakimi was flogged to PSG.
However, such a figure would make the matter complicated.
What RTK has to say
If he’s the right player then the fee doesn’t matter.
Michael Edwards and his gang do their research and they do it thoroughly.
It is rare that the sporting director makes a misstep in the transfer market.
Whoever we end up pursuing as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, we’re confident that Edwards will make the right decision.
