Liverpool are heading into one of their most important transfer windows of recent years. The Reds are in desperate need of reinforcements and Kopites are excited to see who will come through the doors. Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on the Liverpool transfer plans for the summer.
Areas of concern
The Reds need to make at least three signings.
Jürgen Klopp needs a centre midfielder to come in and take on Gini Wijnaldum’s role in the side.
The Dutchman played a tremendous amount of football for the Reds, not replacing him could leave us exposed.
The boss also needs to bring in a winger to provide effective cover for Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.
Furthermore, we are in dire need of a striker to challenge Roberto Firmino and provide a different option up top. We are desperately short of an out and out finisher.
Fabrizio Romano on Liverpool transfer plans
The Reds are always one to throw up a surprise or two in the transfer market, as we saw previously with moves for Fabinho and Diogo Jota.
Fabrizio Romano has detailed the first step for Liverpool in the transfer market, when asked whether player exits will come first the journalist told Anfield Watch:
“100% yes, from what I’m told the first step is selling some players, attacking players.
“So Origi, but in particular Shaqiri, so the first position is Shaqiri, selling Shaqiri, they need to sell some players, it’s important for Liverpool. Once they’ve sold some players they can move for some new wingers as I said.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool will be hoping that Xherdan Shaqiri added a few million to his price tag over the summer.
The Swiss international had a brilliant Euro 2020.
Fingers crossed once we get him moved on, along with the likes of Divock Origi, Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson, we’ll see our incoming signings ramp up.
