Liverpool are expected to sign a forward this summer. Jürgen Klopp needs to add competition to his thinly stretched front line. After Italy won Euro 2020 there’s been talk of interest in the winning squad. Liverpool are reportedly set to join the auction for Domenico Berardi. He previously said he wants to sign for the Reds.
Liverpool want Domenico Berardi
Rumour after rumour keeps cropping up about the Reds’ attacking plans.
According to a report in Italy, Liverpool want Domenico Berardi.
Corriere Dello Sport (12/07/21 P.41) has reported that the player’s agent has received notice of the Reds’ interest.
Michael Edwards is reportedly ready to join an auction for the player’s services with Leicester City also interested.
The paper cites a price tag similar to the one on Manuel Locatelli’s head which is up to €45m (around £38.5m).
Domenico Berardi on Liverpool
The 26-year-old winger has previous with the Reds.
Back in 2019 he was edging close to an exit and he stated that he’d prefer an Anfield move, The Mail quoted the Italian as saying:
“If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it.
“If I hear that it is the right proposal, to be taken on the fly, this time I will say to Sassuolo: ‘I’ll take it.’
“Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Berardi hinges on Mo Salah leaving according to Corriere Dello Sport.
As a result this deal wouldn’t seem to make sense.
The Reds would have to replace Salah with someone like Kylian Mbappe, otherwise we’d be looking at a big step down.
Berardi would provide great competition and depth though.
