Liverpool are going to have to start thinking of a replacement for Jordan Henderson soon. The skipper is entering his 30s and his injury record is becoming concerning. According to the player’s agent, reported Liverpool target Kalvin Phillips would cost up to £80m.
Jordan Henderson replacement needed
31-years-old and a vital member of the squad, Jordan Henderson is a modern day great of the club.
He will go down as one of our most important ever captains.
However, due to his age and injury record we need to start considering a long-term replacement for him.
Last season he was ruled out in February and didn’t play football again until a friendly shortly before the Euros.
Liverpool reportedly target Kalvin Phillips
Last October The Mirror claimed that Liverpool want Kalvin Phillips.
The outlet stated that Spurs are also interested in the Yorkshireman.
Phillips came through the youth ranks at Leeds and has been an undroppable member of the Whites’ midfield for years now.
His impressive performances for club and country are sure to have intensified interest in his signature.
Lofty price tag
The midfielder won’t come cheap apparently.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire recently told The i:
“Declan Rice is valued at about £70-80million and [Kalvin] Phillips must be worth that at least given his range of passing.”
If this is indeed what the Leeds United man would cost then we can’t see the Reds coughing it up.
He would be an ideal replacement for Jordan Henderson given his intense work rate and box-to-box action but Michael Edwards doesn’t exactly have £80m lying around.
