Liverpool need to add quality in depth this summer. There is currently a dearth of competition in the squad and that needs solving. According to the Liverpool ECHO, Liverpool could turn to Matheus Pereira at West Brom.

Last season an injury crisis ruined the Reds’ season.
The lack of depth in the squad was severely exposed.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s ridiculously bloated and expensive squad romped to the title unchallenged.
Jürgen Klopp is unable to rest or rotate his side due to this lack of depth in the squad.
Without rotation players become fatigued and burned out. Without competition players become complacent.
The Reds need to make signings to address these issues.
Liverpool could turn to Matheus Pereira
West Brom were relegated last season and as a result they’re bound to have players linked with the Reds.

The Liverpool ECHO has claimed Liverpool could move for Matheus Pereira.
The versatile midfielder was a standout performer despite the Baggies’ poor season.
Most often used as an attacking midfielder he also turned out at a striker and on both wings.
He netted 11 and assisted six for West Brom last term, not a poor return given his side’s struggles.
The Echo report carries quotes from the Baggies manager who states that he expected Pereira to leave.

Liverpool need to be more ambitious, Pereira isn’t the answer.
The Reds need to add real quality in depth, the West Brom midfielder wouldn’t be much of an upgrade on Xherdan Shaqiri.
