A reliable journalist from the Netherlands says Liverpool want Donyell Malen. This appears to confirm recent reports from elsewhere.
Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink says Liverpool want Donyell Malen and are ‘serious’ about a deal. They’re not alone in that, however.
Borussia Dortmund are right there with the Reds, while a number of other clubs are also looking into it.
Elfrink is considered to be a top source on PSV Eindhoven, where Malen currently plays. His claim supports some recent reports in the Netherlands, too.
Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer said something similar this week. He claims both Liverpool and Dortmund are in talks with agent Mino Raiola.

Talk is growing, then – at least, on the Netherlands side of things.
Liverpool want Donyell Malen
This is one that makes a lot of sense for Liverpool. They could really use both a fresh face up top and someone to inject more youth into their options.
One of their biggest problems last season was a lack of variety off the bench. Divock Origi struggled with injury, leaving Liverpool without an out-and-out striker for most of the campaign.
Jurgen Klopp then had to use a winger centrally or rely on Robert Firmino – and the Brazilian just couldn’t get going in front of goal. Bringing in a striker to offer something different should benefit the team.
It allows for more formations, a change of plan in-game, or simply as fresh legs in a tight fixture. Malen’s goal record is certainly more impressive than Origi’s in recent years, too.
The 22-year-old bagged 19 in the Eredivisie last season, adding another eight assists. He looks like a superb talent and one who could kick on much further.
And that’s where his youth comes in. All of Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be 30 in a little over a year – they’re not going to be at the top of their games for many more years.
Liverpool could really do with more investment in their future beyond those three, then. Diogo Jota certainly brings that at 24 and Malen would be another fine addition in that direction.
He’s a player who shouldn’t peak for another four or five years – perfect to replace Liverpool’s famed front three.
So there’s a lot to like about Liverpool wanting Malen. We don’t yet know how much PSV would want for their star asset but it’ll surely be something the Reds can afford.
This is certainly one to watch, then.
