The Serbian star is the latest name.

News of Liverpool interest in Milinkovic-Savic is not a big surprise. He is a top-class No 8, and the Reds need exactly that.

The likelihood is that Liverpool’s recruitment staff have made contact with numerous clubs about quite a few different players.

Milinkovic-Savic was always going to be one. He has performed to a very high level for a few years now.

It was 2016/17 when he really broke out. He exploded the following season, before an off-campaign in 2018/19.

However, the Serb improved again in 2019/20, before recovering his best form last season.

Milinkovic-Savic is a different style of player to Wijnaldum. He is taller and more explosive, with goals and assists a big part of his game.

He scored eight and assisted 9 in 2020/21.

The Spanish-born star also improved his defensive game last term, with a career-high 3.64 tackles and interceptions per 90.

Now 26-years-old, Milinkovic-Savic is due his big move. He is in his prime and will know that he will have to make a switch soon if he wants to reach the top level.

While he may dream of Real Madrid, he would undoubtedly accept a move to Liverpool this summer if Jurgen Klopp tries hard for him.

We are not convinced that he will actually move to Anfield, though, as there are cheaper options available.
