Liverpool want Declan Rice and could soon make an offer, according to one source. The Reds won’t be the only ones, however.
This one takes some explaining. The source is a supposed West Ham United insider – though one with a big reputation.
ExWHUemployee is a West Ham ‘in the know’ that has consistently got club matters right for years. Enough, certainly, that our sister-site Hammers News trusts them as a source.
And now ExWHUemployee is talking about Liverpool. The source claims the Reds could soon make an offer for Declan Rice.
They’re not the only team doing that but Jurgen Klopp is apparently a fan and Liverpool could make their move. They’ll certainly have a chance, given reports over the last few days.
The Telegraph claims Rice has rejected two contract offers from West Ham. He wants to test himself on a bigger stage and doesn’t wish to tie himself to the club further.
He does still have three years left on his current deal, however. It’s not like West Ham are at any real risk of losing him for nothing.
In fact, their asking price remains high at £100m. The report does mention that Rice would be disappointed if bids around £60m weren’t enough to get him, though.
Liverpool to make Declan Rice offer?
We’d be surprised if Liverpool got this one over the line. £100m is far too much for Rice, in our opinion, and we’re not sure the club has £60m to spend.
There’s little doubt that Rice would be a great signing. If Liverpool can get it done, then that’s absolutely wonderful. But we won’t hold our breath at the prices mentioned.
