Liverpool are going to have to sign a midfielder or two this summer. The Reds are a man light in the middle and a key player is getting on in years. Ideal Liverpool signing Marcel Sabitzer will leave on the cheap this summer. He’d be the perfect James Milner replacement.
Who is Marcel Sabitzer?
The utility man started 24 Bundesliga games last season and came off the bench on three occasions.
During these appearances he netted eight goals and assisted three.
A jack of all trades last season he played in five different positions according to WhoScored.
Most often used as a centre midfielder he’s also cropped up as an attacking midfielder and a striker.
Known for his work rate, passing ability and shots from range he is the consummate dynamic midfielder.
Liverpool could sign Marcel Sabitzer cheap
Bild claimed some months ago that Liverpool want Marcel Sabitzer.
Since then The Athletic has claimed he’s available for just £13m.
These reports have been backed up in Germany with Bild now confirming that Sabitzer will be sold for much less than his release clause this summer as Leipzig look to recoup a fee rather than let him go on a free transfer next year.
Ideal James Milner replacement
At 35-years-old James Milner is still showing no signs of slowing down.
However, we do need to consider a succession plan at some point.
The Yorkshireman is vitally important to the side due to his work rate and versatility.
Marcel Sabitzer could be the ideal man to replace James Milner.
The Austrian is also able to perform a number of roles and he is also noted for his ferocious work rate.
At just 27-years-old we could bring in Sabitzer and get the best part of a decade out of him if he looks after himself the same way Milly does.
