Liverpool coach Peter Krawietz has a lot of nice things to say about Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson as a partnership. The duo are certainly one of the best around.
Liverpoolfc.com has a piece up celebrating Sadio Mane as the forward hits five years at the club. It’s a fantastic interview with coach Peter Krawietz and goes in-depth on just why the Anfield staff rate him so highly.
Not that it’s any real secret. Mane has been an influential part of this Liverpool team, helping the Reds to glory in England, Europe and the world stage.
He’s pushed on to become one of the best forward on the planet and at his best, few can rival him. But there’s one factor Krawietz talks about that isn’t purely about the 28-year-old – his partnership with Andy Robertson.
Mane and Robertson
In May 2016, Mane played on the right-wing and Robertson was relegated with Hull City. One year later, the duo were the greatest left-flank in world football.

A status they hold to this day.
It’s a partnership that has been near-perfect ever since they clicked together. One that Krawietz sees as ‘absolutely unbelievable’.
“Our left side is, ‘Wow!’,” he says. “They are absolutely amazing and of course it helps if you play a lot of games together.
“But this combination with Robbo and Sadio; both are quick as hell, both are ready to defend, both are able to cross and prepare situations.
“In playing together, in our style we always talk about the ‘triangle’. You have not only this pair but you have always a midfield player on the left side and all these three are together. We talk about the triangle on the right side as well, with the connecting players in the centre.
“Whatever happens on the pitch, this left triangle of Robbo, Sadio, plus one of the midfielders, we always know this is a proper, proper weapon.
“This is of course a good partnership and these two guys together are helping each other, supporting each other, combining, attacking. This is absolutely unbelievable.”
What RTK has to say
The duo both have incredible all-around games but what really sticks out for us is the work-rate that brings it all together. They’re both completely willing to cover one another, while the second one vacates space, the other hits it.
It makes Liverpool’s left-flank almost impossible to defend. Not only do you have to keep up with their skill, but you must match their energy and concentration.
We’re not sure anyone can do that. Certainly, when Mane and Robertson are both at their best, they’re simply unstoppable.
One day down the line, Liverpool will have to try and replace them. Doing that will be as impossible as trying to stop them.
