Liverpool are in need of reinforcements in the middle this summer. The Reds have lost a key player and he’ll need replacing. We could turn to Portugal for the solution. According to a report Liverpool have bid for Otavio, offering Porto £20m plus Marko Grujic.
Marko Grujic at Liverpool
In January 2016 Marko Grujic became the first signing of the Jürgen Klopp era.
The Serbian was signed in a £5.1m deal with the midfielder arriving that summer from Red Star Belgrade.
At the time he was dubbed the next Steven Gerrard due to his all action style in the middle of the park.
Since his arrival he’s failed to secure a place in the first team and has instead been sent on a series of loan moves.
Most recently he spent the season at Porto and he impressed in the second half of the campaign.
Liverpool bid for Otavio
This summer is likely to see Grujic depart and another midfielder arrive.
According to reports in Portugal that player could be a recent teammate of the Serbian’s.
A Bola has claimed that Liverpool have submitted a bid for Otavio.
The outlet has reported that the Reds have offered £20m plus Marko Grujic for the Brazilian utility man.
The 26-year-old Porto man can be deployed on either side of the midfield or in the middle though he is most often used as a left winger.
What RTK has to say
This is an interesting one because there is plenty of noise coming from one outlet and nowhere else.
£20m plus Marko Grujic for a Brazilian with mountains of first team experience wouldn’t be awful business.
At the end of the day, we’ll back whatever Michael Edwards does. He rarely gets it wrong.
