This summer we expect Liverpool to move for a midfielder or two. The Reds are losing Gini Wijnaldum and will be running out of patience with Naby Keita. According to Kicker, Liverpool would have to make a mega-offer to sign Christoph Baumgartner.
Who is Christoph Baumgartner?
21-year-old Christoph Baumgartner is an attacking midfielder at Hoffenheim.
The Austrian came through the youth ranks at SV Horn before eventually ending up at Hoffenheim at 16-years-old.
Since then he’s broken into the Bundesliga side’s first team and has established himself as his team’s key creative force.
According to WhoScored he turned out in nine different roles for Hoffenheim last term, showing up in every position ahead of the halfway line.
The Daily Mail have reported that he’s been dubbed the next Michael Ballack in Germany but he models himself on David Alaba.
Liverpool want Christoph Baumgartner
The Reds may have their eyes on the Austrian wonderkid.
According to Kicker, Liverpool are interested in signing Christoph Baumgartner.
The outlet has claimed that the Reds are joined by Manchester United in their pursuit of the midfielder.
However, the youngster plans on staying at Hoffenheim another year and only a ‘mega-offer’ could change that.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool pay up when they see the right player for them, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson taught us that.
However, we believe they’d be saving up a mega offer for someone closer to the Kylian Mbappe level.
Given the player’s versatility we could well see Michael Edwards move for the youngster in a year’s time.
