Liverpool have looked at Christoph Baumgartner this summer, according to reports. Though they’re not the only ones.
This comes from Kicker. They named Liverpool as one of the teams who have considered moving for Christoph Baumgartner.
Baumgartner has recently caught the eye playing for Austria at Euro 2020. He scored the decisive goal against Ukraine in the group stage, putting his country into the knockout stages for the first time.
They did suffer defeat against Italy yesterday, however, after forcing one of the tournament favourites to extra-time. Baumgartner played the entire 90 minutes, though went off before the extra half hour.
And he did enough over the tournament to prove he’s a very promising young player.

Liverpool have had a look, apparently, as have Manchester United.
Who is Christoph Baumgartner?
Baumgartner is a 21-year-old attacking midfielder who currently plays for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. He broke through there, in fact, making his debut in late 2019 and becoming a regular the following season.
As for exactly where he plays, Baumgartner is wonderfully versatile. He can play centrally, from the left, even from the right – and all in deeper or advanced roles.
He grabbed six goals in the Bundesliga last season, adding three assists. The 21-year-old added another three goals and an assist in the Europa League, too.
All in all, Baumgartner is a very exciting young prospect and it should be no surprise that Liverpool have considered him. His versatility means they could certainly make room, while his age offers them a long-term future beyond the current first-team stars.
We’ll wait for stronger links before we actually get excited about this one, though. This is just one line in a Kicker report and, quite honestly, Liverpool get linked to a dozen players each week.
In Baumgartner, though, there’s a player who makes absolute sense for Liverpool. One to keep an eye on.
