PSV manager Roger Schmidt has confirmed that Donyell Malen will likely leave the club this summer.
The Dutch striker has been linked to a whole host of sides, including Liverpool.
It is not surprising, considering his goal scoring record of the last few seasons.
Now, his manager has claimed that he will probably leave the club this summer.
Speaking to NOS, Schmidt said: “That’s how it goes in football, especially at PSV, we lose one or two good players every year.
“It has been clear to me for some time that Donyell and Denzel [Dumfries] are likely to leave. Actually last summer.
“I also take it into account and if they do stay, that is great. But we have to prepare ourselves that we will have to play without both next season.”
Schmidt quotes on Malen promising for Liverpool
Schmidt’s quotes could mean great news for Liverpool.
We all know how badly the Reds need to recruit forwards this summer. Malen would be the ideal signing in our opinion.
While PSV may have been powerless to stop the 22-year-old from leaving anyway, it is promising to see that they will not stand in his way.
It also suggests that the club are aware of interest in the player.
Of course, this interest may not be from Liverpool, but the reports in the press hint otherwise.
It is the latest development in a story that does not seem to be going anywhere soon.
