Reports: Liverpool make Kylian Mbappe enquiry to Paris Saint-Germain

Liverpool have made an enquiry into Kylian Mbappe, according to reports. The Reds might just go big this summer.

This comes from a couple of reports. The first comes from journalist Rudy Galetti. The most thorough, though, is from Marca.

The Spanish outlet believes Liverpool have made an enquiry to Paris Saint-Germain over Kylian Mbappe. The striker is out of contract next summer and the Reds want to know if he’s available.

Now, they do stress that this is ‘more out of hope than expectation’. Liverpool know this would be an incredibly difficult deal to pull off and that it likely won’t happen.

The chance is there, however, given Mbappe can leave for free in a year’s time. That should at least get PSG to the table.

But funds would be an issue. Marca believe Mbappe would demand world-record wages and that Liverpool have no intention of offering those.

You’d imagine that would be a killer for any deal but you never know. If Mbappe were financially motivated right now, he’d sign a new PSG deal. They can almost certainly offer him the most money.

Galetti’s tweet does claim that Liverpool would offer a massive salary to Mbappe, though. They’re not exactly looking to go cheap here, they just want to avoid paying something ridiculous.

All in all, it doesn’t sound as though Liverpool are signing Mbappe but you never know. If they’re asking about him, they must have gotten the idea from somewhere that it’s possible. Teams don’t tend to bother with players they know will reject them – especially when it’s very easy to ask their agent.

Marca’s report goes in-depth on Real Madrid’s interest, too. They very much do want Mbappe and see themselves as his most-likely destination.

At the same time, they won’t happen this summer. That seemingly creates a window for Liverpool and one they’d very much like to take.

But we won’t hold our breath.
