Report: Liverpool have rejected a bid from Benfica for Harry Wilson

Liverpool are expected to sell off some fringe players this summer. The Reds need to raise funds and trimming the fat is a great way to do that. A couple of academy graduates could be on their way. According to The Athletic, Liverpool have rejected a bid from Benfica for Harry Wilson.

Summer transfer list

Liverpool had planned to sell a number of players last summer but the global health crisis curtailed buying clubs’ spending power.

The Reds will now be set for a fire sale with plenty of fringe players up for grabs.

Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi seem nailed on for an exit with the pair failing to impress as backup stars.

Meanwhile Marko Grujic should finally get a permanent transfer after a string of loans.

Furthermore we could see Neco Williams and Nat Phillips leave in pursuit of first team football.

Benfica bid for Harry Wilson

The race for the Reds’ Welsh winger is hotting up.

According to The Athletic Benfica have made a bid for Harry Wilson.

However, Liverpool have rejected the initial approach and are holding out for £13m.

Brentford and West Brom are also interested along with Steve Cooper’s Swansea City.

Whilst the Reds have rejected the Portuguese side’s first approach the feeling is that Benfica will return further down the line.

What RTK has to say

Harry Wilson deserves a move.

He won’t be getting first team football at Anfield and he’s too talented to sit on the bench every week.

Benfica would be an interesting switch for him, though we’d prefer to see him at Brentford next season.

The Bees play exciting football and that could help Wilson shine.
