Liverpool are going to be linked with dozens of players this summer. The Reds are in the market for a few different positions. One role in need of reinforcement is centre midfield. Liverpool fans are divided over links with John McGinn.
Midfield reinforcements
The Liverpool midfield is looking a man light at least.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are injury prone and can’t be counted on as a result.
Meanwhile, Gini Wijnaldum will leave the club after five years of service.
The Dutchman played a silly amount of football for the Reds and consequently he’ll need replacing.
Furthermore, Curtis Jones is too young to fully take over from the departing icon.
Therefore Liverpool have to sign a midfielder this summer.
Liverpool want John McGinn
The Reds have a number of midfielders in their sights if you believe the papers.
The Athletic has now reported that Liverpool want John McGinn.
The outlet has claimed that Aston Villa would demand £50m for their Scotland midfielder.
According to the report Jürgen Klopp was impressed with the Villa star last season. The boss asked Andy Robertson for info on his international teammate.
However, a deal is seen as highly unlikely this summer.
The asking price has put the Reds off and there is also interest from Manchester United.
Twitter reacts to rumour
It’s fair to say that fans are divided on Liverpool links to McGinn.
Some trust the recruitment team and the boss whilst others want more ambitious moves made.
