Liverpool target Renato Sanches
One time European Golden Boy and a Bundesliga flop.
Renato Sanches has had a rollercoaster career for someone just 23-years-old.
The Portugal midfielder started his career at Benfica before making the switch to Bayern Munich as an 18-year-old in 2016.
Since then he’s been loaned to Swansea and sold to Lille.
He has enjoyed success in France, playing his best football and winning the league title.
The Athletic recently claimed that Liverpool could move for Renato Sanches this summer as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.
The report states that the move would mark a change in system for the Reds with the Portugal star adept at carrying the ball.
Jermaine Jenas on Renato Sanches
This summer has seen the midfielder impressing at Euro 2020.
This week the Portugal star stood out as his nation took on France.
Jermaine Jenas was wowed by Renato Sanches in the 2-2 draw with Les Bleus. The ex-Spurs man told BBC One (9:49pm, June 23, 2021):
“He has been terrific. He has definitely added a lot to that midfield that they were missing the other night against the Germans.
“You have to give him a lot of credit. A lot of people here in England saw what the player went through when he was at Swansea, a hugely low place, the way he has rebuilt himself back to up to where he is now on the world stage shows he has got a lot of character.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Renato Sanches would be an interesting one.
The most important thing Jenas picked up on here is the player’s character.
It’s his character which could make a move worthwhile.
If he’s willing to knuckle down and be moulded by Jürgen Klopp then he could be a gem of a signing.
