Brighton defender Ben White is expected to leave the club to join Arsenal, which could open the path for Nat Phillips to leave Liverpool.
The Athletic report that the Gunners are close to agreeing a £50m deal to sign the centre-back.
Negotiations are continuing, but it is highly likely that White will make the move to London in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, Goal reported that Brighton, along with Burnley, are leading the chase to sign Phillips from Liverpool.
Liverpool would sell for the right price.
And with Brighton set to have £50m in the bank soon enough, they will be well able to stump up the £15m it would take to sign the Englishman.
Essentially, when White’s departure is confirmed, you can expect the rumours of a move for Phillips to hot up.
Phillips to Brighton a good move for all

While Phillips did a fantastic job for Liverpool last season, a sale is the right move for all parties.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all due to be fit for the start of the season. The club have also signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.
The reality is that Phillips will not get much action if he stays at the club.
The player himself wants to play football.
He proved last season that he is good enough to play in the Premier League. Brighton is probably his level.
In all honesty, he is probably better suited to Burnley’s style of play.
Graham Potter likes to play a slick passing game, which probably isn’t Phillips’ strong point.
Nonetheless, it looks like the Brighton boss has seen enough from Phillips to want him, so, hopefully, he gets his man and it works out for everybody.
We’re sure that every Liverpool fan would wish him all the success in the world.
