Switzerland 3-1 Turkey

This weekend saw the conclusion of group A at Euro 2020.

Italy edged past Wales 1-0 whilst Switzerland thumped Turkey 3-1.

The two results left the Welsh in second place whilst the Swiss stand a strong chance of qualifying as one of the best third placed sides.

It was Haris Seferovic who opened the scoring, rifling one into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Xherdan Shaqiri scored the next goal against Turkey, the Reds’ winger collecting the ball outside the area and curling one into the top corner.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

A fantastic strike from Irfan Can Kahveci in the second half reduced the deficit.

However, Xherdan Shaqiri was really in the mood and he smashed one home following a fine cross in the 68th minute.

Truth be told it could’ve been more for the Swiss, had they been more clinical they could have qualified with superior goal difference to Wales.

Xherdan Shaqiri v Turkey

We are expected Liverpool to sell Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.

The diminutive playmaker hasn’t been up to the task in the past year or so.

He is a fantastic footballer but he doesn’t have the quality to provide effective cover for the world class front three.

Xherdan Shaqiri added a couple of million quid to his price tag with his showing against Turkey.

The 29-year-old could’ve had a hat-trick at least, he’ll continue to shine in the knockout stages providing his side qualifies.

Twitter reacts to performance

A cross section of fans were stunned by Xherdan Shaqiri yesterday.
