Liverpool are going to sign a midfielder this summer (hopefully). The Reds are a man light in the middle after Gini Wijnaldum’s departure. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Pedri. The Spanish midfielder left BBC pundits stunned last night.
Liverpool linked with Pedri
Back in April The Mirror claimed Liverpool have made contact with Pedri through his agents.
The outlet claimed the Reds were weighing up a £70m swoop for the midfielder.
Just 18-years-old he’s already a regular fixture in Barcelona’s midfield, he started 28 games in La Liga last term.
More recently Mundo Deportivo (via Daily Star) has reported that the Reds still hold an interest in the Spanish wonderkid.
Pundits stunned by Pedri
The midfielder was a standout performer as Spain failed to beat Sweden last night.
The teenager was pulling all of the strings, quickening the pace and keeping things moving for his side, though his teammates couldn’t take their chances.
Speaking after the game Gary Lineker said of the midfielder, “he’s going to be a superstar this kid isn’t he.”
Cesc Fabregas agreed whilst Lineker added that Pedri is a ‘real exciting talent’. Alan Shearer weighed in telling the studio:
“Everything looks so natural to him. The way he receives the ball, the way he runs with the ball, he was their best player tonight.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool landing Pedri would be a statement signing and a half.
The Spaniard could be the best Spanish midfielder of his generation, one of the best in Europe full stop.
However, the Blaugrana are unlikely to let him go anytime soon. They can’t afford to sign a big money replacement, they’ll hold on for dear life.
