Liverpool are expected to sign a striker this summer. Jürgen Klopp needs goals in his side, the front three have been off the boil and need to be sparked into life. According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund will challenge Liverpool for Donyell Malen.
Striker needed urgently
The front three have never faced competition for their place in the side.
Diogo Jota’s arrival last summer threatened to disrupt the natural order but we’ve often started all four of them together.
Furthermore, the Portugal star is primarily a winger. We are in need of a striker.
Roberto Firmino’s lack of a lethal touch in front of goal has become an issue for the Reds.
With teams sitting deep against Klopp’s side now we need a predator who can sniff out half chances and take them.
Liverpool face Donyell Malen competition
There are dozens of names being listed as potential solutions to our striker problem.
Liverpool have been persistently linked with Donyell Malen. Voetbal International claimed that the Reds are leading the chase for the youngster’s signature.
Bild has now reported that Borussia Dortmund are set to rival the Reds for the 22-year-old’s signature.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Donyell Malen would be a smart move to say the least.
He netted 19 goals in the Eredivisie last season, he appears to be improving and improving.
The Athletic has claimed he is available for around £26m. Given that he is just 22-years-old and he fits us stylistically this could be a bargain signing.
However, Borussia Dortmund have a knack for talking hot prospects into developing with them in the German Bundesliga. This could be a tough one.
