Liverpool sell Philippe Coutinho

In January 2018 Liverpool pulled off an historic bit of business.

The Reds sold one player and bought another in what has proved to be a pivotal moment in the club’s history.

Barcelona bought Philippe Coutinho for £142m. Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk for £75m.

The rest of the Coutinho money was spent on Alisson Becker and Fabinho.

Within 18 months Liverpool were kings of Europe again and the Brazilian was struggling at the Camp Nou.

Thiago well wishes for Philippe Coutinho

This week saw Philippe Coutinho turn 29-years-old.

The playmaker is entering the final stages of his career and there’s no guessing where he’ll be in a year’s time.

Thiago posted a birthday message for Philippe Coutinho and fans have flooded the tweet.

It seems plenty of Liverpool fans want Coutinho back at Anfield.

There have been reports suggesting such a move could come to fruition.

AS in Spain recently claimed that Barcelona have offered the playmaker to Liverpool in exchange for the Reds’ cancelling the debt remaining from the initial deal.

Personally, I’d be tempted. Although he’s struggled since leaving he is still one of the best playmakers we’ve seen at Anfield in some years.
