Ivan Toney rise and rise

25-year-old Ivan Toney is one of the hottest properties in England right now.

The Brentford striker has earned his way to the top.

Toney started his career at Northampton Town and was snapped up by Newcastle United in 2015. However, he failed to make an impact at St. James’ Park.

Consequently, Toney departed on a string of loan moves. Eventually he was sold to Peterborough United where he excelled, prompting a club record sale to Brentford.

This term has seen the best of the striker, he netted 33 goals as The Bees won promotion to the Premier League.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

Liverpool should sign Ivan Toney

There is sure to be plenty of interest in the forward this summer.

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony is a devoted Kopite. As a result, he’d be made up if Liverpool signed Ivan Toney.

The executive told The Hard Truth podcast:

“I’m a Liverpool fan and I know my players. And I’d be delighted if we [Liverpool] signed Ivan. Give me him over (Divock) Origi any day of the week.

“Liverpool cross the ball with quality for fun and imagine Ivan getting on the end of those crosses from those full-backs!”

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing Ivan Toney would be an exciting move.

His goalscoring record speaks for itself.

However, we can’t see the Reds splashing out the money necessary for him.

Brentford are likely to want a hefty sum for the lethal finisher, the Reds would surely want proven top flight experience for such a large sum.
