Neco Williams Wales warm ups

This weekend saw Wales play their second warm up game of the month.

Robert Page’s side had recently been beaten 3-0 by France.

The game was overshadowed by a controversial red card for Neco Williams.

The young Reds’ right back accidentally blocked a Karim Benzema shot with his arm.

The ball was fired from such close range that there was no time for the youngster to react.

Despite the lack of reaction time and the fact that the game was a friendly, the referee zealously decided to send the youngster off.

Neco Williams v Albania

This Saturday saw Neco Williams start for Wales v Albania.

The 20-year-old was a surprise starter and played the full 90 minutes of the goalless draw.

Williams’ inclusion was a surprise given his red card. The Welsh FA had determined that they had jurisdiction over his punishment and decided not to ban him for the game.

This is likely due to his desperate need for game time, he only featured once in the Reds’ final 13 Premier League games of the season.

It was Williams who came closest for his side during the 0-0 draw, he fired a fine effort in from 30 yards and it drew a dramatic stop from the goalkeeper.
