Hertha BSC are confident they can finally sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic, according to reports. The Bundesliga side had the Serbian for two years.
This comes from Berliner Kurier. They say Hertha BSC will trying to sign Marko Grujic from Liverpool this summer.
It wouldn’t be the first time, either. Hertha tried to permanently sign Grujic last summer but found Liverpool resistant. The Reds weren’t sure about selling and asked for too much money.
Hertha then had to watch as Grujic joined FC Porto on loan for the season.
Hertha BSC want Marko Grujic
It’s no secret why they wanted him so badly, either. Grujic spent two years on loan with Hertha and thrived. Pal Dardai, manager at the time, labelled the 25-year-old the best midfielder he’d seen at the club.
Grujic was fantastic in Germany and in some ways, that hurt Hertha’s chances. Liverpool clearly came away from that deal believing the player’s value was very high and would only increase.
Last summer was muted transfer window, after all. It was easy to believe that Grujic would be worth far more a year later when transfers held less risk.

There was also a belief that Grujic would shine with Porto and drive up his value. Unfortunately, that didn’t quite happen.
Grujic only became a regular at the very end, frequently going through spells without much game-time at all. As a result, his value has gone down.
And that, above all, gives Hertha the most confidence. Liverpool wanted around £18m last summer but now value him at around £12m and actively want to sell.
While Hertha were unable to meet demands last time around, they believe they could get the player in 2021. Especially as Liverpool openly offered him permanently to FC Porto but the Portuguese club haven’t made up their minds.
Hertha, then, finally have a chance.
