Liverpool confirm 4 departures in 2021 Premier League retained list

Liverpool announced their Premier League retained list on Friday, with four youngsters leaving the club. Two received new contract offers, however.

Four academy players leave Liverpool this summer according to the Reds’ Premier League retained list. The club announced this on Friday.

Liam Coyle, Joe Hardy Abdi Sharif and Jack Walls will all depart LFC this summer once their contracts end.

Of the quartet, only Hardy ever made a first-team appearance. The striker played eight minutes at Anfield in the FA Cup back in February 2020 as a young Liverpool team saw off Shrewsbury Town.

Hardy’s also the only one of the four who started his youth career away from Liverpool. He’d shone for Manchester City’s young sides before joining Brentford’s B team.

His performances earned him a move to Liverpool but he was never truly able to make a name for himself with the Reds. Now 22, he’ll surely look to make the senior jump elsewhere.

Coyle is another notable departure. He’s now 21 and has been in the youth setup for a very long time now, captaining teams along the way.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

This is the end of his time with the Reds, though. Hopefully, all four find decent clubs as they make their next steps.

Two academy players with expiring contracts received offers from Liverpool, though. Yasser Larouci and Remi Savage can both remain with the Reds if they choose.

Savage isn’t someone we’ve considered close to first-team level but Larouci certainly is. The Algerian took part in pre-seasons with the first-team, while he played the majority of an FA Cup game against Everton back in January 2020.

That finished 1-0, of course, with Curtis Jones netting a wonderful winner.

We expected Larouci to leave, in truth. There were reports he would last summer, with Goal claiming both Brentford and Leeds United wanted him.

If that’s true, we imagine Liverpool’s offer isn’t the only one on the table.
