In recent seasons Liverpool have redefined the full back role. The Reds boast wing backs like none other, our two wide defenders have become our greatest creative outlets. They’re dominating for club and country, Twitter has been drooling over Andy Robertson after a superlative cross as Scotland drew with the Netherlands.
Andy Robbo superstar
When Liverpool signed Andy Robertson from Hull in 2017 there were eyebrows raised.
We needed to replace Alberto Moreno but many Kopites were expecting a more ambitious signing than the left back who’d just been relegated.
After taking a few months to find his feet at Anfield the hardworking Scot established himself as a fan favourite.
His determined pressing and marauding runs down the left showed all of the effort fans want to see.
Then came the assists, year in, year out the left back in competition with Trent Alexander-Arnold for who can set up the most goals for the side.
His rise to stardom has earned him the captaincy of his country and he’s once again excelled in an international game.
Andy Robertson cross v Netherlands
This week saw Scotland earn a surprise draw against the Netherlands.
The famous Oranje were twice behind at home with the visitors going ahead after 10 minutes through Jack Hendry and reclaiming the lead in the second half thanks to Kevin Nisbet.
The Scots’ second goal saw an Andy Robertson cross leave the Netherlands defence stranded.
The Anfield defender whipped a delicious low ball to the back post for Nisbet to tap home.
Fans rave over Robbo
The Reds left back has earned widespread praise for his assist.
