Gini Wijnaldum replacement needed

No player has played more minutes in Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool midfield than Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman became and undroppable cog in the machine during his five years at the club.

He was converted from an advanced attacking midfielder into a box-to-box dynamo.

Gini’s departure has hurt Kopites worldwide, his reliability will be difficult to replace.

Given just how perpetually available he was we simply have to find his successor.

One name is standing out as a potential replacement for Gini.

Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium recently linked Liverpool with a move for Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian midfielder has enjoyed another standout season for Leicester City and could be looking for a move with the Foxes having missed out on Champions League football.

Ex-Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes Youri Tielemans would be a great move for Liverpool, telling Football Insider:

“Tielemans would be a brilliant signing.

“I think he would fit in at Liverpool perfectly. He will add more of a goal threat as well, especially from range.

“He is a very good footballer and he would be very capable filling the void left by Wijnaldum.”

What RTK has to say

We are desperate for the Reds to sign him.

He shares plenty of traits with Gini, the pair have unrivalled anticipation which buys them vital extra seconds on the ball.

Tielemans would also bring a greater creative spark to the midfield.

Fingers crossed Liverpool do move for the Belgian.
