Liverpool are going to sign a forward this summer. The Reds are in dire need of reinforcements up top and we can’t afford to rely on Divock Origi for another season. Liverpool have been backed to sign Raphinha by ex-Premier League striker Kevin Phillips.
Liverpool want Raphinha
The Metro recently claimed that Liverpool want to sign Raphinha this summer.
The Brazilian was a standout performer for Leeds United in his debut Premier League campaign following his £17m switch from Rennes.
He scored six and assisted nine in his first English campaign but the numbers don’t do his electric football justice.
The winger recently told UOL in Brazil that Roberto Firmino is a ‘great friend’ of his.
Kevin Phillips on Raphinha to Liverpool
This seems to be a move which makes sense on paper.
Ex-Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has backed Raphinha to make the move to Liverpool, telling Football Insider:
“100% he would [want to move to Liverpool], no disrespect to Leeds but why would he not join Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp? He will jump at it.
“I was very surprised when Diogo Jota went to Liverpool but when you get an opportunity to join Liverpool you do it, so I’m sure he is flattered being linked.
“If there is half a chance in the summer I would imagine the player would push for it.”
What RTK has to say
We can’t help but agree here.
No disrespect to Leeds United, they’re a big club but when Champions League football comes into the mix, along with playing under the generational talent that is Jürgen Klopp, it’s pretty hard to turn down.
Hopefully the Reds do make their move, Raphinha is an exciting player.
