Liverpool have had some heroic players at the club over the years. Few have been as talismanic as our Captain Fantastic. Now enjoying success at Rangers, fans have been rolling back the years in the past week to celebrate the legend’s birthday. Some Liverpool fans have responded after Jude Bellingham tweeted his admiration for Steven Gerrard.
I could write a dissertation on just how good this man was and I’d only be able to scratch the surface.
Steven Gerrard was the ultimate captain, he was blood and thunder, heart on his sleeve, all action and he was there whenever we needed him.
He was such an all round pro that sometimes it’s easy to forget just how brilliant he was at each individual aspect.
Gerrard was as defensively sound and energetic as N’Golo Kante and he had the vision and passing ability of Kevin De Bruyne.
He could do it all and he did it in style.

Naturally, Kopites have taken the chance to tell Bellingham to emulate Gerrard at Liverpool.
Unfortunately, we can’t see the Reds affording him any time soon.
