Liverpool Twitter reactions to the UEFA Champions League final

Chelsea have been crowned champions of Europe after beating Manchester City 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League final.

In what was never going to be an enjoyable game for Liverpool fans, the Londoners won their second ever European Cup.

This years final was much more entertaining than the scoreline suggests. The first half was played at 100mph, while the second half was a big physical battle.

Both teams had chances, with Timo Werner in particular guilty of spurning a few.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to not play a natural No 6 hindered his side as Chelsea were a constant threat on the counter-attack.

The goal came in the 43rd minute. Kai Havertz latched onto a defence-splitting pass from Mason Mount. He then rounded Ederson before poking the ball into the back of the net.

City dominated possession for the second half, but they were restricted to half-chances by a solid Chelsea defence.

The goal never came for the Premier League champions, and Thomas Tuchel’s side went on to lift the trophy.

Ideally, both teams would have lost here.

As two rivals of Liverpool’s, it was going to be a sickening result no matter what.

On the plus side, Manchester City’s chase for a European trophy goes on.

Citizens cannot rightly say they are on Liverpool’s level as a club. Ridiculous Ruben Dias and Virgil van Dijk comparisons won’t be given more fuel.

However, Chelsea are now well set up to become a top, top team once again. They will build on this and challenge Liverpool for more big trophies.

How did Liverpool Twitter react?

As ever, Twitter was a hotspot for content after the game.
