His role is a hard one to define and his absence will be sorely felt as a result.
Signing a successor for the midfielder is an absolute necessity.

Just who the priority target is set to be is anybody’s guess.
Reports in Belgium have claimed that Liverpool are considering a move for Youri Tielemans.
Het Nieuwsblad has reported that he’s on a list of targets for the club.

Liverpool signing Youri Tielemans would be a statement and a half.
He was one of the best centre midfielders in the Premier League this season, Pep Guardiola referred to him as a ‘top, top class player.’
There is also the matter of him scoring a stunning winner in the FA Cup final as well.
Whether or not he’s affordable is another matter entirely, we’d likely have to break the bank.
