Liverpool don’t often get things wrong in the transfer market. Since FSG’s overhaul of recruitment we’ve become one of the game’s savviest operators. Despite this some signings are undeniably less successful than others, one such player supposedly wants out. Liverpool could land Joao Felix using Naby Keita in the deal.
Who is Joao Felix?
21-year-old Portugal star Joao Felix currently plies his trade at Atletico Madrid.
The youngster was signed from Benfica in 2019 for £113m, at the time making him the fourth most expensive footballer in history.
It’s fair to say he’s not quite lived up to expectations in the Spanish capital but that is understandable given his young age.
A versatile forward, Felix can operate behind the striker or anywhere across the front three.
Naby Keita and Atletico Madrid
This summer could see the end of Naby Keita’s time at Liverpool.
The Guinean has had yet another injury ravaged season at Anfield.
His talent is obvious and he regularly puts in stand out performances when he gets a run of games under his belt.
However, injuries often prevent him from getting this run of games.
According to AS in Spain, Naby Keita has offered himself to Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool could land Joao Felix
Prior to his switch to Spain, Liverpool allegedly lodged a bid for Joao Felix.
Correio da Manha (via The Mirror) reported that the Reds made an offer of £61m for the wonderkid.
Given that we need a striker to come in over the summer and Felix still has plenty of time to realise his potential now could be the ideal opportunity to sign him.
We could use Naby Keita as a makeweight to lower the fee significantly, Atletico will surely be interested given that Saul Niguez is allegedly unsettled.
