Liverpool’s season is drawing to a close and Kopites must be relieved about that. The Reds have had a disastrous season with players dropping like flies causing a slide down the table. There’s plenty of work to do before the start of next season, Liverpool fans should expect transfers within the next two weeks if recent history is anything to go by.
End to a tough season
Liverpool have struggled this season but we can’t blame them.
Absolutely everything has gone against the Reds this term.
They – like every other side – have been without fans there to cheer them on.
However, some sides have benefited from empty stadiums (see Manchester City miraculously not bottling Europe) whilst Jürgen Klopp’s side thrive off the support.
The most glaring problems we’ve faced have been fitness related with an unprecedented injury crisis totally derailing the side’s title defence.
Liverpool transfer targets
This summer we expect Liverpool to be active in the transfer market.
We need to sign a centre back, a centre midfielder and a striker.
The Reds fitness issues at the back make signing a centre half an absolute necessity.
Whilst Gini Wijnaldum leaving on a free transfer makes finding a replacement for him a priority.
Meanwhile the front three have been lacklustre in front of goal this season, making a striker coming in essential.
Liverpool transfers imminent
If recent form is anything to go off then we should expect Liverpool to complete their major transfers in the next fortnight.
The club have focused on making their moves as early as possible in recent years.
Last summer’s window is an exception due to the financial uncertainty posed by the pandemic.
However, if we look at 2018, the club signed Fabinho just three days after the Champions League final.
A deal for Alisson was sewn up in July but the wheels were thought to be in motion earlier than that.
There is also the matter of the Euros coming up, the club will want deals tied up before then in case interest in any targets intensifies.
When we also consider that James Pearce has reported that Liverpool are waiting until the end of the season to activate Ibrahima Konate’s release clause then a new signing appears imminent.
