Liverpool haven’t had the easiest time with injuries this season. The Reds have struggled to put a team out some weeks due to fitness issues and the summer transfer window will be used to address these problems. Given that Jürgen Klopp provided an Ozan Kabak injury update, the Turkey international may have played his final game for Liverpool.
Liverpool sign Ozan Kabak
This season Jürgen Klopp lost every one of his senior centre backs to injury.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were ruled out at the end of October and start of November respectively.
Joel Matip lasted until January before he too was sidelined until the next campaign.
In order to plug the gaps the Reds brought Ben Davies in from Preston North End and Ozan Kabak in on loan from Schalke with the option to buy him for £18m.
Since signing for the Reds the 10-cap Turkish defender has grown in stature each week, it was a shaky start but he’s impressed in recent games.
Ozan Kabak injury update
We haven’t seen the youngster in our last three games.
The centre back picked up a minor muscle issue before the visit from Southampton.
Jürgen Klopp has now provided a grim Ozan Kabak injury update.
When asked by the press whether the defender will play again this season, the boss replied simply: “Ozan, no.”
Final game for Liverpool?
There are question marks over the future of the young defender.
Ozan Kabak may have played his final game for Liverpool.
The Reds aren’t obligated to make his move permanent and there is intensifying speculation around a move for Ibrahima Konate.
Hopefully the Turkish defender doesn’t go out like this, he’s done us a great service since February and he has plenty of potential. We should keep him.
