Alisson Becker… like… eh?
In what will undoubtedly go down as one of the Premier League’s most memorable moments ever, Liverpool’s No 1 scored a sensational injury-time winner against West Bromich Albion to keep the Reds’ top-four hopes alive.
West Brom 1-2 Liverpool
Liverpool travelled to The Hawthorns needing a win to keep their fate in their own hands. Anything less and the initiative would have been handed back to Chelsea and Leicester.
Hal Robson-Kanu opened the scoring for the Baggies in the 15th minute.
As expected, Liverpool dominated from here and were rewarded with a super outside-the-box finish from Mo Salah after 33 minutes.
Further Red domination followed, with 26 shots from Jurgen Klopp’s men.
However, it looked like they were not going to get the goal they needed. West Brom held tough, while Liverpool’s finishing was poor.
That was until the 94th minute, when Liverpool won a corner to get one last chance.
Alisson often the hero – but not like this
The Brazilian goalkeeper made his way up to the box to try and get on the end of something.
Trent Alexander-Arnold swung in the corner and it landed on the head of the unmarked 28-year-old.
Unbelievably, Alisson glanced his header into the far corner of the net.
Utter pandemonium ensued, with nobody quite able to believe their eyes. Jamie Carragher simply started laughing in the commentary box.
You literally could not write it. Don’t pinch yourself because this is real. Every cliche you can imagine – apply it here.
Most importantly, it keeps Liverpool on course to play Champions League football next season with two Premier League games remaining.
