Roberto Firmino has posted a touching message on social media about exactly what it meant to him to captain Liverpool against West Brom.
The Brazilian also showed some love for his countryman Alisson, who scored a famous last-minute winner to secure a crucial three points for the Reds.
Posting on Instagram, Firmino said: “It’s one (of) the biggest honours in football to be the captain of your team. But to be the captain of Liverpool FC and for these boys is beyond the greatest feeling imaginable.
“What a fantastic win today and even better that my brother scored the winning goal. You’re so Blessed for the Lord. We love you.”
Rather than using an agent or social media company to run his account like many footballers these days, Firmino appears to have written the message himself.
It is clearly from the heart, proving exactly how much he loves the club that he has been at for six years.

With Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Virgil van Dijk out injured, and Gini Wijnaldum rested, Jurgen Klopp had to make a decision about who would lead the team out in Sunday’s game.
Many would have guessed that Salah would have been chosen again today.
However, Klopp has said previously that when all four players from the “leadership group” are absent, the longest-serving player on the pitch will be captain.
That honour fell to Firmino against West Brom. He was quite clearly extremely proud to wear the armband.
The 29-year-old also paid tribute to matchwinner Alisson, who he called his “brother”.
The duo have grown incredibly close since the goalkeeper joined from Roma in 2018. Alisson even assisted with Firmino’s baptism back in 2020.
It was undoubtedly an incredibly special day for the Samba duo. It just goes to show that football is so much more than just a game, especially when it comes to Liverpool.
