Mohamed Salah closes in on his 200th Liverpool appearance and it’s given the clubs’ coaches an excuse to wax lyrical about the Egyptian. Make no mistake – they adore him.

Salah will almost certainly line up against Manchester United tomorrow. It’ll be his 200th appearance for Liverpool and while we wish it were as part of a title race, putting one over United would be a fine way to mark it.

It’s been quite an incredible four seasons with Salah – far better than we ever imagined. He’s shattered records, delivered historic goals and helped to deliver the game’s biggest trophies.

To sum it all up, Salah is a Liverpool legend.

That’s certainly not just in the eyes of a fan, either. The coaches at Liverpool, who work with him daily, have had some wonderful things to say about Salah.

They talked to Liverpoolfc.com about the no.11, leaving no doubt that he’s a truly elite player to work with.

Liverpool coaches on Salah

“[Salah] really keeps going and of course this is what you want as a coach, and what is absolutely necessary as well to be a top player, to be a world-class player, which he is,” says Peter Krawietz.

“He is available and I think that is the best thing you can do as a player,” says Andreas Kornmayer.

“He wants to be available for us, to get the next team objectives and to get goals and get the Golden Boot, and all these things.”

“Mo is a proper team player. We are just really happy he is with us,” says Pep Lijnders.

“This club has the capability to turn good players into legends and he is one more of them. He is part of an iconic team and will be forever related as one of the important faces of this Liverpool FC generation.”

What RTK has to say

Reading through the quotes only increases our respect for Salah – and that’s a respect that runs pretty deep. As Ljinders says, he’ll undoubtedly go down as a true club legend.

Because what Salah has achieved over these 199 games is simply incredible and unlike anything we’ve seen in decades. Yes, we’ve had some phenomenal goalscorers in that time but none of them delivered the trophies Salah has.

He rocked up at Anfield as a questionable winger who had failed in England once before. 12 months later, Salah held the Premier League record for goals in a 38-game season. He’d also helped Liverpool into a Champions League final.

Even now, three years since then, he’s achieving ridiculous things.

Liverpool have been terrible almost all season. We shouldn’t forget they shipped seven to Aston Villa even before the injury crisis. Yet here Salah is, competing for the Golden Boot with just a few games to go.

How? We’ve seen how broken this team is right now and yet Salah is still outperforming the league’s other forwards.

He’s a truly remarkable player and, hopefully, he’ll be a Liverpool player for a few more years yet. Salah made himself a legend in 200 games – what could he do in 300?
