Liverpool have had a nightmare season. The Reds are now fighting for a top four finish when we were expected to be in a dog fight for the title. Next season eh. Despite the disappointments of this campaign we finally have some good news as Virgil van Dijk has delivered an injury update we can celebrate.

Virgil van Dijk injury
This season’s Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park will live long in infamy.
Kopites will never let this one go, it was a dreadful match.
Early on in the game Jordan Pickford flew into the knees of Virgil van Dijk, rupturing the Dutchman’s ACL.
Remarkably the Everton goalkeeper wasn’t sent off, the referee later admitting that was a mistake.
Thereafter there was the horror tackle on Thiago by Richarlison and a sequence of bizarre refereeing errors which meant Liverpool left with just a point.
Virgil van Dijk injury update
Fans have been nervously awaiting the return of our talismanic centre back.
The defender has been out of action since October with his return pencilled in for next season.
In an interview with the club’s official site, Virgil van Dijk offered an injury update fans will be delighted with:
“It’s just good that things are progressing well, the surgeon is very happy with everything that is going on and, as I said, the good thing is I’ve not really had a setback so far and hopefully that will not happen.
“So, I just keep going, keep working hard and getting stronger and hopefully fitter by the day.”
What RTK has to say
Surgeon happy, no set backs. This is the Virgil van Dijk update we needed.
The Dutchman confirmed in the same interview that he won’t be going to the Euros.
Fingers crossed this means he’ll be fighting fit for the start of next season.
