Reported Liverpool target Houssem Aouar allegedly has price slashed

Liverpool are going to have to sign a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum this summer. The Reds are about to lose a vital part of the midfield and we can’t afford to repeat the mistake made with Dejan Lovren last summer. Reported Liverpool target Houssem Aouar has allegedly had his price tag slashed to £26m.

Midfielder needed

Last summer Liverpool sold Dejan Lovren without replacing him.

The Reds quickly realised they’d made a huge mistake when Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were ruled out for the season.

We need to learn our lesson from last summer. Gini Wijnaldum is set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season, we need to sign a successor.

Liverpool target Houssem Aouar update

There are a number of potential avenues for the Reds to explore when it comes to finding a replacement for Gini.

Whilst Yves Bissouma is standing out due to his experience in the Premier League there are other options out there.

According to Goal, Liverpool maintain an interest in Houssem Aouar.

The Lyon playmaker has been impressing for years in France, in 2018 he was praised as ‘incredible’ by Pep Guardiola.

According to L’Equipe, Lyon are now willing to accept around €30m (£26m) for the midfielder after a disappointing season.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool swooping for Houssem Aouar would mark a change of direction for the midfield.

The Frenchman is a much more creative player than Gini Wijnaldum and he isn’t particularly strong in the tackle.

However, he could provide a creative spark which we need further up the pitch.
