Liverpool are going to have to make some sweeping changes over the summer. This season hasn’t been good enough, that’s obvious. We need a centre back, a centre midfielder and a forward to arrive. James Pearce has said he has no doubt that Liverpool will sign a striker.

Front three follies

Liverpool put seven past Crystal Palace in December.

The Reds were top of the league at Christmas. Everything was looking up.

Then all of a sudden the wheels came off; the front three couldn’t hit a barn door and the back line couldn’t hold their nerve.

In 2021 we’ve seen the worst form of our front three since they came together in 2017.

The Reds have slid down the table as a result and there’s been serious suggestions that this summer will see the breakup of the attacking trio.

Liverpool transfer plans for striker

It’s not just fans who believe that the Reds will move for a forward.

James Pearce is convinced that Liverpool transfer plans this summer involve a striker. The Athletic journalist told the Red Agenda Podcast:

“[Liverpool] are an elite attacker short if they’re serious about challenging for the big trophies next season, they need to have another option.

“The drop off in production from Mane and Firmino this season has been so alarming that they need another option up there to ease the burden on Mo Salah, because so much of it will be on his shoulders, so Liverpool will definitely, I’ve got no doubt that we won’t have to endure another season like this one.”

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing a striker seems an inevitability.

There’s no telling just who the Reds will go for, it could well depend on Champions League football.

Missing out on top four could impact us severely when it comes to finances.

Here’s hoping we get top four and Mbappe.
