Liverpool are going to have to raise funds over the summer. The Reds need to get rid of all of the deadwood in the squad in an effort to address some problem areas. Surely Liverpool have to sell Loris Karius this summer, it is in everybody’s best interest.
Liverpool sign Loris Karius
Back in 2016 Liverpool signed Loris Karius for £4.7m.
The German keeper arrived from Jürgen Klopp’s old side, Mainz.
Brought in to take over the number one spot from Simon Mignolet, the young goalie had an ok start to his Reds’ career.
He wasn’t spectacular but there were plenty of signs of promise given his young age.
However, as time went on his frequent errors became more and more costle, culminating in him single handedly throwing away the Champions League final.
Just weeks after the calamitous cup final, Alisson Becker was brought in to replace Karius.
The German was subsequently loaned out to Besiktas in Turkey.
He spent two seasons there but failed to impress enough to warrant a permanent move.
His time in Turkey saw more of the same: impressive saves and costly errors.
This season Karius was sent on loan to Union Berlin but he’s played second fiddle in the German capital, making just four appearances in the league.
Liverpool should sell Loris Karius
This summer has to be the time to move him on.
Karius’ contract expires in 2022. We need to sell him this summer if we’re going to recoup even a fraction of his fee.
It’s in his best interest to find a permanent home where he can regain his confidence, we just may struggle to find a suitor.
Hopefully the next few years of his career are more steady and sucessful.
