Liverpool take on Manchester United this week with the Reds knowing just how vital a win would be. Jürgen Klopp’s side can’t afford any further slip ups in the coming weeks, we have to win them all. Speaking exclusively to Rousing the Kop, Emile Heskey has singled out Bruno Fernandes as a problem for Liverpool.
Liverpool face Manchester United
One of the most watched and anticipated games in world football will be going ahead (finally) this week.
The game was postponed recently after Manchester United fans invaded Old Trafford in an effort to protest the Glazer ownership.
The fans have long been at odds with the American owners who they perceive to be bleeding the club of money.
The recent Super League debacle was the latest touch paper to reignite a long running feud.
Liverpool head into the game having just beaten Southampton 2-0 and knowing that a win is vital to the side’s top four hopes.
Emile Heskey on Bruno Fernandes v Liverpool
This a United side who have impressed this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been growing as a manager and that is reflected in his team’s success.
One man in particular is standing out, Emile Heskey told Rousing the Kop that Bruno Fernandes could cause Liverpool plenty of trouble:
“Fernandes is the obvious [dangerman], he’s the one that makes them tick.
“They’ve always had someone who makes them tick and if you can nullify that person you’ve taken away a lot of their threat.
“Fernandes is the main guy you’ve got to be careful of.”
What RTK has to say
Having Fabinho in the midfield will be key to Liverpool keeping Bruno Fernandes quiet.
However, the injury to Ozan Kabak has shed some doubt on the situation.
The boss could end up dropping Fabinho into the back four again.
We think the safest option has to be keeping Rhys Williams at centre back for the game.
