Liverpool have to ignore Jadon Sancho in the transfer window. There’s a potential title on the line.
Liverpool have had a disasterous season, all things considered. This should have been another title. It should have been confirmation that they’re the best team in the world.
And in truth, it did look that way up until Christmas. Liverpool sat at the top of the table having beaten Crystal Palace 7-0. Clearly, they were champions in waiting.
Then things fell apart as the injury crisis took its hold. Liverpool were operating without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Joel Matip was soon to disappear, as would Jordan Henderson. Fabinho was barely in midfield.
In fact, they couldn’t even get Diogo Jota on the pitch around new year and Thiago missed over two months. The result was a tired Liverpool side that couldn’t compete. Down the table, they went.

That’s incredibly unfortunate, too, as this is a title-winning squad. Importantly, though, it will still be one next season.
Liverpool will have their eyes on the grand prize once again in 2021/22. The defence will be solid once again and they should have all the stars available.
They’ve got to go for it next year, then. Unfortunately, that’s why they must ignore Jadon Sancho in the transfer window.
Jadon Sancho to Liverpool?
Honestly, that’s a magnificent price for a sensational player. Sancho has the ability to be a star for years and any side would be lucky to have him.
We’ve gone on and on about him all year, in fact, waiting for him to be available. Now he is but we don’t think Liverpool should do it.
And that’s because there’s a catch. Per that Bild report, Liverpool can only afford Sancho is they sell Mohamed Salah.
Journalist Raphael Honigstein backs that up, in fact.
“I cannot imagine Liverpool, especially since the money for a Sancho transfer is simply not there,” he told Sport1. “A new dynamic could only come into the matter if Mo Salah leaves.”
Usually, we’d be all in on Liverpool going for the younger model and securing an elite player for the future. But not right now. Not with a title on the line.
Fact is, Salah is Liverpool’s star right now and the only reliable goalscorer at the club. Sancho is great but the Reds would be worse off with him next season.
And Liverpool can’t afford to waste a year, here. Too many players are approaching the end of their peaks. If the club are to win another title with this group, they’ve got to make the most of next season.
That means keeping Salah. He’s far too good to give up right now and by the time Sancho peaks himself, many of these current stars will be gone. Liverpool won’t necessarily find better.
We think they’ve got to pass on Sancho and keep Salah around, then. It’s undoubtedly the best chance at winning back that Premier League title.
