Liverpool are one of four clubs looking at Ousmane Dembele in the transfer window, according to reports. Barcelona may decide to sell the player.
This comes from Mundo Deportivo. They claim Barcelona are considering a transfer for Ousmane Dembele.
There’s an obvious reason for that, too – his contract expires in 2022. If they want to receive anything for the player, this summer is the time to do it.
Any sale would mean a huge financial loss, however. Barcelona paid nearly £100m all-in to sign Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.
After a few years of struggles – let alone the one year on his contract – they can’t expect to get anything like that amount this summer.

And that apparently grabs the attention of some elite European clubs. Juventus and Manchester United are ‘moving the most’ for Dembele but Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain both like the player, too.
It seems that Barcelona can at least start a bidding war if they do decide to sell.
Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool?
This one would all depend on the price. There is a potential bargain here but there’s also a chance you run into the same problems Barcelona have.
Let’s focus on the upside. Dembele is an elite talent and someone who could be an absolute star some day.
He’s still only 23, after all, and has skills few players match. The Frenchman is lightening quick, a very direct runner and wonderful with both feet.
Combine it all and you have a very interesting player for Jurgen Klopp to work with. Dembele could play on either wing and suits Liverpool’s style wonderfully well.
The Reds will want someone like that, too. Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are approaching 30 and may start to wind down soon.
Replacing them is absolutely vital long-term and while Diogo Jota will do half the job, Liverpool need another winger. Dembele, then, is tempting.
But now comes the risk. Dembele has battled injury problems ever since arriving in Catalonia, halting his development. That’s a major worry for anyone considering him.
Perhaps a risk too far? It’ll depend on the price, largely. If Barcelona lower it dramatically, Dembele becomes a risk worth taking – there’s an elite player there waiting to come out.
But that seems unlikely if all four of Liverpool, Juventus, PSG and United are involved. At least one of them will take a greater risk than the others, bumping that price up with a big offer.
So while Dembele would make a lot of sense, we just can’t imagine the right price being available.
