Liverpool are going to have to sign a midfielder over the summer. The Reds need to make some decisive changes throughout the squad with a key player certain to need a replacement. Reported Liverpool target Rodrigo De Paul had fans purring on Twitter yesterday with another standout performance.
This summer sees the expiry of Gini Wijnaldum’s contract at Liverpool.
The Dutchman’s deal is up at the end of the season and the Reds have failed to tie him down to an extension.
The thinking is that he is set to join Barcelona before the start of next season with former Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman determined to take him to the Camp Nou.
He isn’t the only midfielder set to leave over the summer, there are also serious question marks hanging over the long term futures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri.
Given that a number of midfielders could be heading for the exit door there’s no doubt that a signing or two will be needed.
Liverpool linked with Rodrigo De Paul
There are plenty of players being touted as potential Gini Wijnaldum replacements.
Tutto Udinese recently claimed that Liverpool are interested in Rodrigo De Paul.
The outlet reported that the midfielder would be available for around £42m.
The midfielder has also been linked with a switch to Leeds United in the past and is seen as one of the most in form playmakers on the continent.
This season he’s netted eight and assisted seven though the thinking is that he’d have registered more assists if he had more lethal finishers around him.
De Paul v Benevento
This weekend saw yet another standout performance from the Argentine.
Udinese went away to Benevento and smashed the hosts 4-2.
Within three minutes De Paul registered a sumptuous assist, somehow bypassing a host of opposition players to slide in his teammate.
The midfielder notched another assist before the game was out, collecting the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
The playmaker’s performance went well appreciated on Twitter with fans drooling over yet another inspirational display.
